Questions for You

Q: What kind of materials and resources do you use in your classes?

I use an interactive whiteboard via bitpaper or zoom to ensure full participation and engagement for my students. I share resources to a shared portal (usually Google Classroom) so that students and parents can access the work and materials used in lessons. I use a number of sentence buidlers, intercative language apps and GCSE past papers to support the learning of my students.

Q: How do you incorporate speaking, listening, writing, and reading in your lessons?

Through the use of sentence builders and recall practice students will apply listening and speaking skills from the very first lesson. As confidence develops students will participate in a variety of different reading and writing exercises based on the sentence builders to practise spelling and application of grammar.

Q: Do you offer homework assignments or practice exercises?

Homework can be provided on request.

Q: How do you help students with pronunciation and accent?

The recall activities are a chance for students to listen and repeat phrases and words to practise pronunication. There are a variety of different exercises used to test pronunication mistakes such as "spot the mistake" and "delayed dictation". These exercises encourage the students to listen to what has been said and confirm the mistake. As we work through the lessons, I will pause a student to rectify any mistakes with pronunciation. Repeatedly reminding students of their mistakes creates healthy habits and awareness.

Q: How do you teach French grammar and vocabulary?

Grammar is broken down into topics. Each topic is presented in a clear and accessible way. To measure understanding a student will be tasked with presenting the point back to the teacher. And to consolidate their understanding a variety of written and speaking exercises are used.

Q: Can you adapt your teaching style for different learning styles?

In the first lesson, the students' preferred learning styles are discussed and lessons can be adapted according.

Q: Do you provide any additional resources or support outside of lessons such as language exchanges or cultural events?
